Arto Orpana

Arto Orpana is a clinical biochemist and he has been developing the processes and automation of diagnostic DNA testing at the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics of Helsinki University Central Hospital since 1998. He received his PhD in 1990 and worked as a post-doc at Department of Pharmacology, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, Colorado, USA. When specializing to clinical chemistry he did part of his training at the diagnostic DNA Laboratory with prof. Aarno Palotie and has been working in this field from that date. His main research interest are related to method development and laboratory automation of DNA testing and currently he works as Chief Chemist at the Genome Unit of HUSLAB.
