Bjorn T Gjertsen
Bjørn Tore Gjertsen is Professor at Department of Clinical Science at the University of Bergen, and Research Director at Haukeland University Hospital. His major research interest is single cell profiling of intracellular signal transduction by phosphorylation in myeloid leukemia. His laboratory is working with how tumor suppressor protein p53 isoforms is regulated by signal transduction, and forms a basis for development of novel therapy, including small molecule inhibitors against receptor tyrosine kinases AXL and FLT3. Single cell signaling and immune profiling by multiplexing mass cytometry has been developed for use in clinical trials, for analysis of mutations in signaling pathways, for prognostication, as biomarkers for exposome monitoring in occupational medicine and in elucidation of physiological responses of the immune system.
